The difference between mine and Sineads ancillary tasks is I chose to use photos from the shots to create my Digipaks and posters. I also went with two different colour schemes dark red and blue.
The dark red on the digipak allowed me to have the rebellious side of youth come across as the front cover showed everyone waving sparklers about.
The blue tint was to represent the innocence of youth. I wanted there to be a comparison between each task.
Both ancillary tasks had the same font which was called Chalkduster.
I found this front to be great as it gave my work a graffiti look but also the chalk like writing reminded me of being at school and how I was at school.
Overall I think both my ancillary tasks worked very well with the main task as they both contrasted the different sides to youth.

Feedback from the final project
The final feedback showed that everyone enjoyed our video. The results also showed that all our focus group thought that the idea of youth was shown throughout the video.
The feeback however revealed that some people thought we could have improved our piece by making th outdoor scenes more lighter. We could have done this by either using artificial lighting go through editing by changing the brightness.

Ancillary Task- Poster
This is the final draft for the Poster advertising the Music video and Digipak.
The photo used for the magazine I took from a screenshot from the main task. I choose this picture as it showed unity of friendship which is a key and vital part of youth. The cups also symbolised the rebellious side of youth and the stereotype that teenagers like going to and parties and drinking.
I edited the image on photoshop first and I chose to use the pencil tool to create a black line around the images. I did is ass I wanted the poster to have an animated affect, which would make it stand out more.
I also choose to create a blue tint for the picture as blue represents the night and rebellious side to youth. I made the tint by changing the hue and saturation, bright ect.Thursday, 20 April 2017
Main Task- Colour Treatment
Colour Treatment
The colour treatment for the final video was spilt into three sections of different colours: Orange for the bedroom scenes, pink for the living room and kitchen scenes and Blue for creating an atmosphere outside. The colour scheme will help viewers recognise that each colour represents a different meaning. The orange represents that its still early in the day as the girls get ready and also orange is bright colour that represents happiness. The Pink represents youth as bing care free and rebellious but with also a hint of childish behaviour. Finally the Blue represents the darkness and rebellion of youth (e.g.smoking and drinking)
The Bedroom Scenes
For the bedroom scenes Mary (our Editor) used the fast colour corrector (Top picture) to make the room lighting look as if it was quite early in the afternoon. In fact the scenes where actually shot in the evening. The luma curve (bottom picture) was used to enable the shots to look brighter. Mary made all the adjustments on one clip and then copied them onto the other bedroom clips. This was to ensure that each clip had the same consistency though out.
The Living Room/ Kitchen Scenes
These screen shots show the fast colour corrector on the shades of pink. As you can see from the first top picture that with only the colour corrector the image is still dark. This was highly likely to be due to the living rooms natural lighting. To correct this, Mary used the luma curve again to very slightly brighten the film. If you compare this luma curve to the luma curve used for the bedroom scenes; it's easily noticed that the living room scenes are no as bright. This is capture the idea that its later in the day and also that the lighting at a party will be dimmer.
Outside Scenes
For the outdoor scenes Mary used the colour corrector to create a blue filter over the top of the clips. This was created to make theses scenes look more darker as when we filmed it was still light. However for the some of the other outside scenes that included using the sparklers the lighting was very dark so Mary used the luma curve once again to make the scenes a lot brighter. These scenes had to made brighter due to the natural lighting being rather poor. We also did not have an artificial lighting we could use as we were in the middle of a playground. However the luma curve really helped to brighten up the film and a create a party like atmosphere.

Ancillary Task- Digipak
This is the final draft for the digipak. To create this picture i took different screen shots of a long clip we filmed of everyone in the best frame that where in e.g. so looking forward and smiling, and also how the sparklers looked in the frame. I then took a black background and used that as a filler while i placed all my screen shots together. I used photoshop to edit these parts and used different layers to create the picture. I sharpened the picture to ensure the light from the sparklers was bright. I also darkened the picture using the hue and saturation on photoshop. I wanted the picture to focus primarily on on the sparklers and the relocation they make on the peoples faces. This makes the CD front cover to be simplistic. I wanted it to be simplistic as this relates back to my previous questionnaire of my first skeleton layout in which my focus group said they thought a simplistic design would be the best.
After editing in photoshop i transferred the picture to Indesign. There i put in the font and choose the colour of the font, the font i used was Chalkduster. I choose this font as it looked hand written and also the chalk effect helps with the theme of youth and school.

To create the back page, I imported the a barcode of the web and the took the logo off my blog. The background picture was some glitter agains t a black background. On Photoshop i changed the colour of the glitter from gold to a dark red. This is so it matched with the red colour scheme of the front cover.

Main Task- Test shoot
For the test shoot we chose to test out a variety of different scenes with just two of the main cast members. The scene we tested out were the bedroom, living room and park scenes. From testing out the scenes it gave us a chance to experiment with the lighting in the rooms and see if anything needed to be changed when it came to filming the actual music video. The bedroom shot enabled Sinead (Our Camera person ) to work out where was best for the camera to be angled at and when it came to filming the real video where the camera would be positioned.
The Test shoot also gave an insight to how we would edit our final piece. Mary placed a yellow/orange coloration over the clips for the bedroom scenes. This was to show that it was still early in the day as the girls are getting ready for the party. It also creates a juxtaposition as the following scenes being filmed at night and given a darker coloration. The living room scene showed that without any editing the lighting was too dull. This then lead to us choosing to make the lighting more brighter when we filmed our final piece. With the editing side of the living room scenes, a pink coloration was placed over the clips. The pink gave the scenes a more party and youth vibe to it. Pink has strong connotations of happiness, romance and childhood and we wanted all of these aspects to be portrayed in our music video.
With the scenes shot at the park conformed our hypnosis of having enough time to shot at around 17:00. We wanted to shoot between 17:00-18:00 to ensure there was enough natural light. If some of the scenes did turn out darker we could use a luma curve on premier pro to make the clips more brighter. We placed a blue coloration on these clips to give a night time feel and effect if the scenes where filmed when it was still light.
Overall the test shoot allowed us to try out different lighting techniques, editing techniques and how to position the camera for certain shots. All of these will make it easier for when it comes to shooting the final piece and hopefully the process will run smoothly.
